Fabrizio Romano on the possibility of Brendan Rodgers being sacked

Currently sitting unenviably rock-bottom of the Premier League table, winless after four games and on just one solitary point, it has doubtless been an awful start to the new 2022-23 season for Leicester City. And surely their board know they their manager Brendan Rodgers needs more time to get things sorted out.

That is the view of leading football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who is of the view that the Irishman shouldn’t have any concerns over his future, despite his team’s dreadful form.

Granted the Foxes’ results have not been up to the mark, and their performances too, and this was perfectly demonstrated by their 2-1 defeat against 10-man Chelsea last weekend.

The current sentiments are that Rodgers remains a red-hot favorite to also get the boot after Scott Parker became the first Premier League manager to be sacked this season following his recent dismissal by Bournemouth.

However, Romano, who writes exclusively for CaughtOffside vis SubStack, is providing some measure of assurance to fans in confirming that Leicester City’s hierarchy know they must give the 49-year-old time to turn things around.

“I have not heard any rumors of a sacking for Rodgers and I think it must be remembered that Leicester City were the only club not to make a single signing this summer, apart from veteran goalkeeper Alex Smithies,” the Italian transfer guru said.

“I believe this must be respected and the club knows that too – Rodgers will need time now that the Wesley Fofana saga is over.”
