Barcelona president Joan Laporta is dreaming of a sensational move for Cristiano Ronaldo to create his Utopian dream team featuring Messi and Ronaldo alongside each other.
Laporta was re-elected as club president in March with his immediate priority to keep Messi at Camp Nou at all costs and not allow the talisman to walk out on a free transfer after his contract expires at the ned of the month. The Argentine has just nine days remaining on his contract at the Camp Nou but reports in Spain claim a new deal is very close to being agreed although nothing has yet been confirmed.
AS columnist Javier G Matallanas reports that Barcelona are now apparently hatching a major conspiracy of a plan to sign Ronaldo and bring two of the greatest players of all time together.
Laporta is said to have begun to ‘dream aloud’ over the proposed move which would see Barcelona offer Antoine Griezmann, Sergi Roberto and Philippe Coutinho to Juventus in exchange.
It is not yet known whether the 36-year-old would consider the proposal with no contact made with Ronaldo or his agent Jorge Mendes as of yet.
Barcelona are also said to be confident of meeting Ronaldo’s enormous salary demands by offloading some of their unwanted stars this summer.
Apparently Barcelona have been additionally inspired by studies that suggest the club could double their income by bringing the Portuguese to the club and uniting him with his arch-rival Messi.
Ronaldo joined Juventus for £99m in July 2018 but remains strongly linked with a move away this summer.
His former side Manchester United are said to be monitoring the situation in Turin with AS recently claiming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already been in contact with the 36-year-old to discuss his vision for him in the team.
