PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is open in his refusal to rule out a move for Sergio Ramos, believing that the club’s winning mentality would appeal to the Real Madrid defender.
Now in the final six months of his deal at the Bernabeu, Ramos is free to enter talks with other clubs regarding a free transfer in the summer of 2021.
The robust World Cup winner has been locked in negotiations for months with his employers regarding extending his stay, but the negative financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic have not made things easy for the La Liga champions as they are currently hard-pressed to meet the celebrated club captain’s salary expectations.
With the doubts now circling over the stalwart defender’s Los Blancos future, PSG have been linked with a move for the defender and Pochettino has not been coy in not playing down the speculation.
“PSG’s strategy has been the same for years, like when we signed Ronaldinho,” Pochettino told Marca when asked about the possibility of signing Ramos.
“We see the market opportunities and bring in those who can improve on what we have. We’ll see in the coming months. Here, Ramos would find a great club with the obsession of always winning. PSG are one of the greats in the world.”
