After six illustrious years with Paris Saint-Germain, Edinson Cavani has decided to join Atletico Madrid on a three-year deal, reports Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio.
Edinson Cavani is one of the first players to arrive under the Nasser El-Khelaifi and second star striker to join PSG after Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
New Major League Soccer outfit Inter Miami owned by David Beckham are interested to sign the 32-year-old, but Cavani wants to play in LaLiga instead.
In the report, Di Marzio explains Cavani is pushing for a transfer but this should alert PSG who will need to offer a cut-price transfer fee to Atletico in January, instead of losing him for free in the summer.
Atletico will be reluctant to pay for a transfer fee, after spending exuberantly in the summer, with the arrival of Joao Felix, Marcos Llorente and Renan Lodi, Kieran Trippier and Mario Hermoso.
However, the Spanish outfit might still have some money after selling Lucas Hernandez, Gelson Martins, Rodri and Antoine Griezmann.
It would be huge boost for Atletico who have been struggling with scoring goals as Alvaro Morata scored seven goals while Joao Felix and Diego Costa only scored twice so far this season.
Cavani has so far played 11 league games, scoring 3 goals and 6 goals in all competitions this season.
