AFF U19 Championships Profile – Thailand

Obb Deewajin

Football Tribe Thailand

Head coach Issara Sritaro has set his sights on winning the tournament but has played down expectations, stating he’d rather focus on the overall game concept, how the boys carry out the plans, taking it game by game. However, with Thailand being the competition most successful side, there is no denying that there is immense pressure from the fans to take the trophy home. Especially when Vietnam is the host.

The War Elephant arrived in Vietnam on the 5th of August. Issara Sritaro biggest concern is rotation since the tournament only allows one day of rest between matches.

Player to Watch:

Channarong Promsrikaew, 18, Attacking Midfielder/Right Winger – Technically superb, gifted with vision and a sweet left-foot, Channarong Promsrikaew can operate anywhere in the attacking line and is the creative force that any team would love to have behind their strikers. The Chonburi FC academy graduate is highly rated and already made his debut with the Shark’s senior side. Last month, he lifted the U17 Thailand Youth League trophy, winning the tournament’s MVP award along the way.
