Amorim, who previously coached Trincao at Sporting, is eager to reunite with the Portuguese international, who recently impressed by scoring twice in Portugal’s Nations League victory over Denmark.
However, United face competition from Barcelona, Newcastle United, and Arsenal for Trincao’s signature. Barcelona, in particular, hold a buy-back clause valued at just over £20 million, which could complicate United’s pursuit. Despite this, Amorim is optimistic that his prior relationship with Trincao could sway the player towards a move to Old Trafford. The 25-year-old, known for his versatility as a left-footed right winger who can also play on the left or centrally, has been in strong form this season, contributing significantly to Sporting’s campaign.
