Erling Haaland vouchsafes that he’s become not only a better player but also a better person during his time at Manchester City.
The Norwegian harbors confidence that the improvement will continue in the coming months, after having already enjoyed a phenomenal start to life at the Club, as he is already approaching 100 City goals, besides having7 won the Premier League Golden Boot in each of his two full seasons in the Premier League.
Despite having arrived at City with a fearsome goalscoring reputation, the former Borussia Dortmund star believes his time under Pep Guardiola has taken his game to new heights.
“Yes [I’ve improved on] a lot of things,” the City number nine told the press ahead of their clash with AC Milan.
“I try to become a better version of myself, both on the pitch and off the pitch.
“I have said many times before there are lots of things I can be become better on.
“I’m working on that, hopefully I will be a better footballer and a better human too this season.”
Haaland asserted that he feels ready to go ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, having enjoyed a prolonged summer break after Norway’s failure to qualify for Euro 2024. He returned to action with a goal in their US Tour opener against Celtic, in a match where he was also handed the captain’s armband by Guardiola.
Haaland said he’s fully rested and feeling sharp ahead of City’s remaining pre-season friendlies and the upcoming season.
“Yeah, of course I would love to play in the Euros and hopefully one day I will but I had my longest break since 2017 so that was nice,” he added.
“My body is fully rested, and I feel ready…. it felt amazing.
“I needed it. It was quite tired. It’s going to be a long season this year.”
City are still to face AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea during the Club’s pre-season tour of the United States.
