Guardiola uncertain about future of Newcastle United target Kalvin Phillips

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is clearly unsure about how the cards will fall regarding regarding Newcastle United target Kalvin Phillips’ future and has refused to be speculate on it, He instead opted to say that the midfielder has been out of training for the last five days after having taken ill.

Phillips has been a fringe figure at the Etihad Stadium and is planning to seek an exit to get more regular football appearances so as to improve his chances of making it to the England squad for Euro 2024.

So far a number of clubs have been mentioned as being keen on the 28-year-old, particularly Newcastle United, but with nothing definite happening yet.

Philips has somehow been unable to find favor under Guardiola at Manchester City and the manager insists he has no bearing on what the future holds for Phillips.

“I don’t know”, Guardiola intoned at a press when the topic was raised.

“He has been sick for the last five days, so he couldn’t train.

“I am not going to anticipate anything.”

Manchester City are understandably hoping to look for a substantial loan fee for a player also wanted by Italian giants Juventus, besides a few others.
