Three potential destinations named as Liverpool told ‘real price’ for Kylian Mbappe transfer

New reports from France and Spain have emerged regarding Liverpool being again tentatively linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe.

With regards to this, a leading European football agent has allegedly advised Liverpool on the cost required of them and other suitors to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe joined PSG in 2017 initially on loan from Monaco before a £165.7 million transfer a year later and has been frequently been linked with a move to Anfield in the past as Jurgen Klopp is known to be a huge admirer of the star. On Thursday, Edu Aguirre, a journalist from Spain, claimed the Reds had tabled a €200m bid for the forward.

“What has occurred in the last few hours in the offices of PSG is that an offer from Liverpool has arrived,” he said via Sport Witness.

“Liverpool have entered the scene. Liverpool have made a €200m offer for Mbappe. The offer from Liverpool that has arrived in the last few hours in the offices of PSG is of €200m. Al-Khelaifi has put Mbappe up for sale.”

Football agent Bruno Satin has conveyed to the Reds that Mbappe would cost around £170m, although he believes only Manchester City, Newcastle United and Real are able to afford the French star.

“It’s difficult to give a price for Mbappe,” he told L’Equippe.

“A normal club, that is to say, not a club-state, will not, in my opinion, pay £170m today. In my opinion, only Manchester City, Newcastle and Real Madrid can pay today.

“For me, the real price is between £85m and £130m, after which there can be bonuses to go up to £170m or almost. If there are few suitors, it is not likely to increase its price.”

Aguirre’s claim came just weeks after Mbappe informed PSG in a letter sent last month that he would not trigger the additional year’s extension to his contract, meaning he could leave as a free agent in the summer of 2024.

A statement released by the player’s representatives read: “After maintaining publicly in recent weeks that he would be a PSG player next season, Kylian Mbappe has not asked to leave this summer and has just confirmed to the club that he would not be activating the extra year.

“The management of the club in charge of the extension [was informed] as of July 15, 2022, of the decision [not to continue beyond 2024]. The statement then said: “The letter was only to confirm what had already been clarified orally beforehand.”

Speaking at the unveiling of Luis Enrique on Wednesday afternoon, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said Mbappe must sign a new contract if he wants to stay at Princes Park.

He said: “Our position is very clear. If Kylian Mbappe wants to stay – we want him to stay – he needs to sign a new contract. We cannot let the best player in the world right now leave for free. That is impossible.”
