Norwegian forward Erling Haaland stepped it up another notch to deliver his second hattrick of the week since he joined last June to amass a total of 42 goals for Manchester City so far – and still counting.
Unstoppable The brilliant Norwegian striker again treated the spectators to another display of his sizzling finishing skills as he effortlessly smashed through the 40-goal barrier in his first season at Manchester City with a hattrick in his side’s 6-0 FA Cup quarterfinal rout of Burnley on Saturday.
Apparently not satiated his goal-scoring hunger despite his five-goal demolition derby against RB Leipzig in midweek, the Norwegian forward quenched his goal-scoring lust by demolishing the Championship leaders at the Etihad Stadium.
The 22-year-old’s trademark goals came in the 32nd and 35th minutes and made it look like a stroll in the park as he completed his sixth hattrick of the season when he converted a rebound to wrap up the tie just before the hour.
Haaland now has an astonishing 42 goals in his bag for City since joining from Borussia Dortmund last June.
As City happily ran riot, it was in all a chastening day for former City hero Vincent Kompany who can be credited with guiding Burnley’s return to the Premier League after last year’s relegation.
