Manchester City have been turned down in their first attempt to entice Erling Haaland, who could now move elsewhere to also disappoint Liverpool, according to Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.
Borussia Dortmund wunderkind Haaland has flatly rejected a £500,000-per-week offer from Manchester City, but has still not closed the door to them even if Real Madrid is his preference, according to reports from Spanish source AS, who revealed that City have stepped forward with a huge offer for the Borussia Dortmund striker.
The Norwegian star will be available with a release clause not clearly revealing his true value in the summer and Dortmund would be powerless then to keep him if it is activated and he is gunning for an exit.
Man City are among the leading contenders for the Norwegian striker with the obvious that could take the Premier League champions to another stratospheric level. They also happen to be one of the few clubs who could afford the cost for the entire package to secure his services.
Things had appeared to be moving along well until now with AS claiming that Haaland has turned down their opening contract offer, which would have seen him tuck away half a million pounds weekly. He is now apparently waiting for the Los Blancos to make him an offer as signing for the LaLiga leaders would be another career-enhancing move for Haaland.
Conflicting claims are currently circling regarding Haaland’s personal preferences. Of course, the turning down of City’s offer could just be him and his camp playing possum and are just biding time before assessing all the options. As things go, it is also claimed that Haaland’s initial snub of City is not the end of their hopes.
