Kevin De Bruyne explained why Mikel Arteta will reject PSG offer and remain at Arsenal

Kevin De Bruyne has offered his views pertaining to Pep Guardiola highlights showing why Mikel Arteta will not be taking the PSG head coach offer if approached.

The Dutchman has opted to play the role of pacifier and reassured Arsenal fans why their Spanish head coach Mikel Arteta would unflinchingly reject Paris Saint-Germain if an offer was to come in for Guardiola’s former assistant coach. As the pendulum swings, the Ligue 1 side is already fast gearing up for a load of changes in the summer, with Mauricio Pochettino’s future being in doubt, for one.

Football.london is of the view that Arsenal are exuding confidence in tying their Arsenal gaffer to a spanking new contract as his current deal runs out in 2023, with PSG allegedly keenly monitoring his situation.

Pochettino is already beginning to look as if he’s ready to exit the Parisian side at at the drop of a leaf come t his season’s end, after the end of the season after a humiliating exit from the Champions League against a magnificent, inspired Real Madrid. To compound matters, the Parc des Princes side has also been having a somewhat shaky run in their last few performances in Ligue 1.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have been on the upsurge this season with Arteta finally having found his firm footing for the Gunners as he now steers them along the trail to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 2017. The Spaniard’s impressive style of play that he has unyieldingly implemented on the Arsenal side is a major reason for interest from PSG. However, De Bruyne begged to differ and explained why Guardiola’s former assistant would not even take a second look at the French side.

Speaking to L’Equipe, the Belgian said:

“Man City looks for the best players, but also learns about personal life, the way you behave. They know how to create a group. It’s a little different from what is done at PSG.”

Arteta quickly ended up being Guardiola’s disciple upon joining the Manchester City coaching fraternity in 2016 after retiring from his playing career and leaving Arsenal to pitch his tent at City.

As such, being Guardiola’s main apprentice, their ideologies would naturally be similar especially in terms of squad harmony and creating a distinct culture at the club. Speaking on this matter, Arteta said:

“If you don’t have the right culture, in the difficult moments, the tree is going to shake, so my job is to convince everybody that this is how we are going to live, and if you are going to be part of this organisation it has to be in these terms and in this way.”

As for Paris Saint-Germain whose idiosyncratic culture is constantly under the microscope for their dressing room issues, De Bruyne is certain this cultural disarray would not appeal to Arteta at all. On top of that, the Ligue 1 side has been embarrassingly tossed out of the Champions League one time too many, which has created an atmosphere of toxicity within the club.

Arteta, on the other hand, has refreshingly taken the club at a total tangent and direction and instead of trying to achieve the initial target of a top-six finish, the Gunners are now hot favorites for a place in Europe’s elite competition. Suffice it to say that this is more than adequate proof and testimony of the process the Spaniard had been expounding on countless occasions during his tenure at Arsenal.

It is all too apparent that Arteta is finally succeeding and is spearheading the attempt to bring back the giddying glory days under Arsene Wenger when qualifying for the Champions League was an automatic outcome.

For the Spaniard to leave a project that is finally beginning to look really promising to move to the Parc des Princes for a total start-over could well be taking a huge step backwards for the forward-moving Arteta.

Like De Bruyne had so emphatically pointed out, there are way too many reasons for the Spaniard NOT to take the PSG offer should it really come his way.
