It certainly looks like Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to signing Adama Traore from Wolves as the former have reportedly identified the Spain international as a priority signing in the current transfer window.
Antonio Conte, who is already making his presence felt at the club, is notably eager to deploy him as a wing-back.
“I made evaluations about the squad but I have spoken with the club and I hope the club will listen to me,” the Spurs boss said on Friday.
The Guardian claims that Tottenham and Wolves just had fresh talks on Friday and Spurs are allegedly increasingly confident that they’ll succeed in signing Traore and are already in the midst of preparing a new bid, added the report.
With his deal expiring in June 2023, the January window is one of the club’s final chances to procure a decent fee from selling Traore as both club and player have not been able to come to terms on a new contract despite several attempts having been made.
Now, the latest news has Fabrizio Romano providing an update on the status quo between all parties involved, with the transfer guru posting on Twitter on Saturday morning:
“It’s been reported that Spurs will pay in the region of £20million for Traore, with potential add-ons.
“The 25-year-old may have not been too prolific this season, but his overall game has improved.
“He’s pressing much more, thinking more about his decisions when in possession, and is overall more selfless.”
Should Spurs succeed in pulling this move off, it’ll be exciting to see what Conte will do with him and how much his game can progress even more to bring the club closer to winning silverware.
