The hot news is that the Blades are harboring an incredible talent in their premises with Carlo Ancelloti’s Spanish juggernauts Real Madrid reportedly keen on rivalling Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona to sign the kid.
Sheffield United starlet Daniel Jebbison is now the man on the spot being linked with Ancelloti’s interest from Real Madrid, with the 18-year-old being currently on a season-long loan at Burton Albion but even now is already the subject of transfer talk involving the Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund and La Liga’s Barcelona. In fact, news was out last week that the young striker had been constantly in the cross-sights of scouts from the Camp Nou who have been tracking Jebbison since they were in attendance at Burton’s recent match away at Fleetwood.
The latest development is that Barcelona’s arch-rivals Real Madrid are also keen on the lad, according to defensacentral. Allegedly Los Blancos boss, Ancelotti, has assigned Madrid scouts to closely monitor Jebbison’s progress, marking him as a player for the future. Managers from the old guard like Ancelloti are not prone to initiating actions without apparent rhyme or reason.
As a matter of fact, the Italian is no stranger to the young Sheffield United striker, having seen him first-hand last season when he was still managing Everton. It was Jebbison who scored the solitary goal of the game last season as United ran out 1-0 winners at Goodison Park, hence dealing a severe blow to Ancelotti’s hopes of leading the Toffees into Europe. How could Ancelloti not remember the young striker who was primarily responsible for ending the Italian’s grand European dreams?
Academy coach Paul Heckingbottom, responsible for overseeing Jebbison’s rise through the academy, quickly caught on to his young charge’s potential and was quick to throw him the cauldron of first team action at Premier League level. Since then it has been obvious that the youngster is clearly another impressive talent to emerge from the club’s academy, justifying Heckingbottom’s faith in him.
The young Jebbison was instrumental in playing a key part in United’s revitalised form towards the end of that season and, judging by the reports regarding the keen interest from the big clubs towards the youngster, it would do United well to look after and manage this talent with utmost care and attention.
The Blades had already rejected a £5m offer from Everton in the summer.
