While speaking to RAC1 program ‘Tu Diras’ ahead of Spain’s final Euro 2020 group game against Slovakia, Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traore has stated that he would not rule out a potential return to Barcelona if the opportunity presented itself.
Wolves’ incredibly fleet-footed Adama Traore is a former La Masia graduate who’s actually made four appearances for the Barcelona first team before departing for England. He played for the B team from 2013 to 2015, where his explosive speed, dribbling and physicality caught the eye of many.
After leaving Barcelona, Adama Traore signed for Aston Villa, and just a season later, he was picked up by Middlesbrough, where he played for another two years. Wolves then came knocking in 2018 and secured his services, since which he has become a regular part of their squad.
Wolves, since returning to the Premier League have established themselves as a wonderful cohesive unit and have enjoyed two great seasons in the English top-flight. Traore has certainly developed the most under Nuno Espirito Santo’s tutelage, racking up 140 PL appearances.
When asked whether or not he would like to make a return to Barcelona someday, Traore replied: “Barcelona is my home. I grew up there, and was there for 10 years. I have to discuss things with my agents, and see what role Barça needs for a return.”
The Blaugrana have no dearth of attacking options in their ranks, especially after the signing of Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero. Traore will find a spot in the team hard to come by even if the unlikely return were to go through.
