Messi, Suarez to Inter Miami

The latest transfer news keeps on rolling in as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to Inter Miami.

The rumor mill has been grinding in overdrive after Messi admitted a few days ago that he wanted to play in MLS in the future, with speculation rife on where he could end up Stateside as he contract runs out at Barcelona this summer. Messi’s ‘dream’ to play in MLS was information he voluntarily spoke about on his own in the television interview with La Sexta and is clearly something he wants to do.

Many had believed that Messi will sign a deal with the City Football Group which will see him play at Manchester City for the next two seasons, then end up Stateside to play for their sister club, New York City FC, in MLS.

However, another intriguing report has just emerged out there with Catalunya Radio saying that Messi and his bosom buddy Luis Suarez have hatched a plan to play together in MLS in the future.

“Messi and Suarez plan to play together at Inter Miami, but not until 2022.”

It is not at all improbable that this could become a reality as both players have talked about moving to MLS and they are now already moving towards that stage in their careers where it is high time for a change and their contract situations are favorable to being given a huge Designated Player contract after arriving on a free transfer.

It is perhaps fitting at this juncture to recall that Messi mentioned his astonishment at Suarez being forced to leave Barcelona in the summer due to the club’s financial quandary. He had also mentioned that the both of them are in contact daily together with Neymar, the third party in their MSN alliance at Barcelona during happier times. Messi and Suarez players are extremely close off the pitch and used to live only a few doors away from each other in Barcelona, so it would not be surprising, nor a coincidence, that the duo could have hatched a plan to reunite at Inter Miami sometime in the not too distant future.

Having them both turn up Stateside at Inter Miami is highly realistic, and this joint move would certainly make the mega splash David Beckham and his ownership group would like to make.

Messi is fast out of contract in the summer, and Suarez’s contract at Atletico Madrid runs until the summer of 2022. So would this be a case of Messi to Man City for one season until the summer of 2022, then he heads to Miami to link up with Suarez?

It will be intriguing to follow this storyline closely in the coming months.
