Klopp eyeing €75m goal machine amid concerns over Liverpool star

Liverpool are reportedly planning to fire up their front line attack with a Jurgen Klopp favorite to be replaced by a prolific frontman as the Reds are said to be planning an audacious bid to sign Erling Haaland, according to reports.

The prolific Norwegian goal-scoring machine had been heavily linked with Manchester United prior to his move to Borussia Dortmund early last season but the teenager spurned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s advances.

Nonetheless, United are still keen on brokering the youngster’s move to the Premier League one day with Haaland having a €75m exit clause in his deal with BVB.

However, while it remains unclear whether that could transpire in 2021 or 2022, it’s now reported Liverpool are considering an approach for Haaland, who has been sizzling in his performances in the Norway World Cup qualifiers.

As per Don Balon, Jurgen Klopp is keen to add the prolific frontman to his Liverpool ranks as an alternative to Roberto Firmino, who despite the Brazilian remaining a vital cog in the Liverpool side, is becoming a bit of a cause for concern for the Reds boss with his alarming drop-off in terms of goals.

Firmino is so far goal-less this season and has managed just 12 in all competitions. In the 28 matches Liverpool have played in 2020, the Brazilian has just four to his name.

Klopp has nonetheless defended Firmino, the report does state his dry patch is causing some alarm with Don Balon claiming that Klopp is now considering a change of tactic, saying that the more direct running and physical presence of Haaland would offer a fresh approach to the Liverpool attack. His presence could also further benefit the prolific Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.

Haaland has 21 goals in 23 games since signing for Dortmund. He also has six in six for Norway.
