[VIDEO] After 10 years with Man City, David Silva joins Real Sociedad

David Silva has decided to return to his homeland as he signed with La Liga side, Real Sociedad.

The 34-year-old has left Man City after 10 years, as he won 11 major trophies including four Premier League titles.

Sociedad, who finished sixth in La Liga, will hope to replace Martin Odegaard, who ended a one-year loan spell to return to Real Madrid.

Spanish midfielder will be honoured with a statue outside the Etihad Stadium in recognition of his significant contribution at Manchester City.

Silva made his final appearance for City in their 3-1 defeat by Olympique Lyonnais in Champions League quarter-final.

Since joining from Valencia in 2010, he helped City win the Premier League four times, the FA Cup twice and the League Cup five times as well as winning a treble in 2018-2019 season.

Overall, Silva has scored 60 goals in 309 Premier League appearances and represented Man City in a club record 70 European matches.

“David is a transformational player, a quiet leader who has inspired everyone around him,” City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said.

“He has put a stamp on the team, on this club, its history and even the Premier League as a whole.”
