Jurgen Klopp’s tearful promise to Liverpool fans is bad news for rivals

Jurgen Klopp has promised this is just the beginning for his Liverpool side after the Reds claimed their laurels as the newly-crowned Premier League champions and insisted there is more to come from his team.

The usually smiling, unperturbable Liverpool boss was in tears as he celebrated his side’s League triumph, and despite being unable to contain his emotions, he vowed to fans that the 30-year old long overdue title win is only the start for “an incredible team”.

“For all the people of Liverpool. It’s a really exciting ride from the moment I arrived and it’s not over yet, that’s the good thing,” he said.

Having secured a 19th top-flight crown, Liverpool can now still up the momentum to break Manchester City’s Premier League points record by claiming 15 points from the remaining 21 – certainly something interesting to look forward to with Pep Guardiola’s side coming up next.

“The team is downstairs, they look like they have good use in their legs so we should try but for now we just enjoy this moment,” Klopp said.

“It’s the best thing I can imagine and it’s more than I ever dreamed of.

“I have incredible admiration for my players. What they did over the last few years is exceptional. I have no words for what they have done.

“My coaching staff too, I could not be more proud or what a lot of people in Liverpool did. It has been a very exciting ride since the first day. And it is not over.”

Liverpool are now only one short of Manchester United’s unblemished record of 20 top-flight crowns, and are now seriously threatening to tip the balance of title wins back in their favor over the next couple of seasons.

City’s 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night confirmed the Reds’ first title win in 30 years even though Klopp’s Anfield trophy haul largesse began just over a year ago when his side beat Tottenham to win the Champions League final.

The Reds then went on in an unstoppable rampage to add the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup trophies to their cabinet last year, while continuing the rampage in the Premier League, not dropping a point until a 1-1 draw away to Manchester United in October.

The Reds were unstoppable in clinching 28 of their 31 league games this season, with only a totally unexpected shock defeat to Watford in February and last Sunday’s goalless derby draw with Everton at Goodison Park when football resumed after the pandemic lockdown being the only other times they have failed to pick up three points.

Klopp and his boys have every reason on the planet to be proud of their incredible achievement so let the tears of joy freely flow, Jurgen!
