[VIDEO] Maurizio Sarri: Cristiano Ronaldo can’t play regularly anymore

It was a bizarre line-up from Juventus this time, as they play Brescia with the absence of star striker Cristiano Ronaldo, even if the title race is at stake at the moment.

After securing a 2-0 win, Juve manager Maurizio Sarri admitted that it was difficult to accept Cristiano Ronaldo’s request to give him a rest day.

“It is difficult; we have many strong players and some are out,” Sarri said to A Bola.

“They are all atypical players, without a specific role.

“We have many situations [we need]to fix.

“Ronaldo is a centre-forward who starts off-centre.

“Today Cristiano had to rest; he cannot play 75 games there a year between the national team and the club, so we decided to let him recover.”

Sarri also believes he needs to look after Ronaldo’s condition in order to get the best from him.

Gonzalo Higuain replaced Ronaldo in the starting lineup.

Brescia down to 10 men after Florian Aye was sent off in 37th minute.

A minute later Juventus took the lead through Paulo Dybala.

Juan Cuadrado finishes off the game with the second goal in the 75th minute.

However, there are only one-point difference with Lazio who beat Inter 2-1 to climb to the second-placed, their highest position so far this season.
