It was a rare match day to have a goalscorer’s name without Lionel Messi, and there was definitely a sense of fresh air as 17-year-old Ansu Fati became the hero for Barcelona as they beat Levante 2-1 at home.
Just overnight, he became the youngest player to score two goals in one match in LaLiga history, breaking previous record set by Juanmi who scored twice for Malaga at the age of 17 years and 115 days in 2010.
What is even more eye-popping is he scored both goals in 30th and 31 minutes respectively, both assisted by Messi.
It was also Fati’s first brace in La Liga, after scoring his first goal in a 5-2 win over Valencia back in September, as well as scoring first Champions League goal against Inter.
His scintillating performance is such a relief for Barcelona, as they could rely on the youth prospect after losing Luis Suarez to a long-term injury.
