Despite the enthusiasm over the appointment of new manager, Quique Setien, Barcelona had to wait for a decisive moment before Lionel Messi scored the winning goal in 1-0 over Granada.
Its a winning start, but its a nervy performance as well.
Barca had more than 80% of the possession, but the slow build-up allowed Granada to break the attack easily than they would have thought.
However, Granada defender German Sanchez was sent off in the 69th minute after he fouled Messi, and that changed everything.
Barcelona finally able to break through the defence as Messi linked up with Antoine Griezmann and Arturo Vidal, allowing the Argentine to score the winning goa.
The victory puts them back on top of La Liga, ahead of Real Madrid on goal difference.
