Hanoi FC end 13-game unbeaten run with shock defeat against Sai Gon FC

Hanoi FC end their 13-game unbeaten run with a shock defeat by Sai Gon FC in the away V-League game on Sunday.

The club has strengthened their dominance at the top of the V-League with 11 points clear off title rivals Than Quang Ninh at the end of the competition’s opening stage.

Their confidence was fueled up after striker Oseni scored to put his side ahead five minutes into the play.

However, Sai Gon FC responded immediately with a powerful shot from newly-arrived Le Quoc Phuong, who just joined the team from Thanh Hoa FC, just a minute later.

Following the equalizing goal, Sai Gon FC pressed on to level things up and successfully doubled the score with a header from Dominique Da Sylva on the 28th minute.

The visitors rallied from down a goal with a powerful shot from outside the box by Nguyen Quang Hai five minutes into the second half.

But Hanoi had to face the unstoppable attacking strength from the home team, with Da Sylva who swooped three more goals to seal Sai Gon FC a memorable 5-2 win over the table toppers.

Despite the shocking loss, Hanoi FC still secured their top position of the first-leg V-League standings with 10 points ahead of title rivals Than Quang Ninh, who were drawn 1-1 with bottom-placed Nam Dinh FC on the same day.
