Thanh Hoa terminate contract with four players

Newly-appointed coach of FLC Thanh Hoa terminated contracts with four players following a string of bad results at V-League.

Following the 1-1 with bottom-table club Nam Dinh on Sunday, Thanh Hoa released four players, including vice-captain Mai Tien Thanh, Le Quoc Phuong, Hoang Van Binh and naturalized player Nguyen Van Bakel.

Among these players, Tien Thanh is one of the marquee players of Thanh Hoa, along with Netherlands-born center-back Van Bakel, who joined the 2017 V-League runner-up in 2014.

Quoc Phuong was the product of Thanh Hoa youth academy but has not proved much in the senior team.

“To prepare for the next stage of the season, Thanh Hoa have released Mai Tien Thanh, Le Quoc Phuong, Hoang Van Binh and Nguyen Van Bakel. Thanh and Phuong will be on loan until the end of the season, while Van Bakel is terminated his contract, and Binh will have to find his new club,” the club’s chairman Doan Van Phuong told Dan Tri reporters.

“Based on the club’s code of conduct, the coach has to be responsible for the squad and the results, so coach Thang has the rights to decide who will stay and who will leave the team. We support all the decisions from coach Thang,” he added.

Thang signed a one-year contract with Thanh Hoa earlier last month to replace the Romanian tactician Marian Mihail, who was fired after poor results over four games.

Thanh Hoa are at the ninth place of V-League standings with 13 points, 16 points behind Hanoi FC who lead the way.
