Marian Mihail parts ways with Thanh Hoa after less than four months in charge

Marian Mihail stepped down from the coaching post of FLC Thanh Hoa FC following the away 3-1 defeat by Sanna Khanh Hoa.

In the rescheduled match of the third round at on April 5, title favorites Thanh Hoa suffered a 3-1 loss to Sanna Khanh Hoa.

This defeat stumbled Thanh Hoa to the seventh place of the 14-team V-League standings.

After this match, head coach Marian Mihail decided to terminate his contract with Thanh Hoa. Speaking to local media, the former technical director of the Romanian Football Federation said that he handed in the resignation rather than being sacked by the board of directors.

“The departure from Thanh Hoa is my choice by it is not what I want,” he told, as quoted by Lao Dong Newspaper.

Moreover, Mihail expressed his frustration with the players’ “disrespectful attitude” and criticised them for not showing their serious effort to compete for the trophy.

“I feel it’s a waste of time, so it’s just a matter of time sooner or later. I thought about this a few weeks ago when the team did not play for the tactics I built,” the 59-year-old added.

In the next round, assistant coach Hoang Thanh Tung will take the role of interim coach while Thanh Hoa are rushing to find their new boss.

Vietnam media claims former Vietnam national coach Nguyen Huu Thang is the No1 choice to replace Mihail. However, the Vietnamese tactician has not confirmed this move.
