Manchester United’s new £36.5million striker Joshua Zirkzee has revealed how Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany helped him become good enough for Old Trafford.
While the transfer chatter is currently abating, Manchester United were among the first clubs to get involved in the summer market. Adding to the sizzle, recent big money addition Joshua Zirkzee has revealed one of the key men behind his rise to becoming a £36.5million striker was City legend Vincent Kompany.
Zirkzee, 23, had emerged as a teenage sensation at Bayern Munich when he made his debut against Tottenham in the Champions League at the age of 18 before before going on to score last-minute winners in his first two Bundesliga appearances.
However the biggest impact on his career was the season he spent on loan under Kompany at Anderlecht, where he scored 16 goals and provided nine assists for the Belgian club after Kompany brought him in from Bayern in the summer of 2021.
