Gary Neville undeterred by Gunners’ performance, says they’re still in contention

Man United legend and football pundit Gary Neville is sticking to his conviction that Arsenal are still in contention for the Premier League title despite their recent poor form.

Undeterred by the Gunners’ dismal performances in the last two matches, the pundit asserts that they are still in contention to end their title drought this term, as the former Manchester United star had predicted at the beginning tof the season.

However, despite a strong beginning, recent struggles piling up have led to Arsenal losing their last two league games and are now trailing five points behind league leaders Liverpool, with Manchester City having overtaken them in the table. This has led to some fans being skeptical about their chances of clinching the title this season.

Neville however is still of the bent that Arsenal are still in the title race, stating, as quoted by the Daily Mail: “I’m not going to change my prediction I don’t think you can sort of flip flop half way through a season. They’re not completely out of it Arsenal.

“I’ve been disappointed with them, they’ll be disappointed with themselves and the Arsenal fans will be disappointed with them over the past two or three weeks because they’ve missed an opportunity to put themselves in a great position.”

Although it may look like they’re a long way back, there’s a possibility the gap between the Gunners and league leaders Liverpool could be considerably narrowed over the next few weeks as the Reds will be without multiple first-team players, key among whom is Mo Salah, who is alredy heding to AFCON.
