The top brass at Real Madrid have apparently initiated contact with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi over the likelihood of replacing Carlo Ancelotti as their manager, according to emerging reports.
Speculation has been rife surrounding the managerial hotseat at Real with headlines of various likely candidates running viral in Spanish media for some time now as news continue to circulate of current boss Carlo Ancelotti widely expected to depart once the current campaign concludes to take up the reins of the Brazilian national team.
This obviously would leave Florentino Pérez in a tough spot as to who would be the ideal replacement should the Italian doyen leave the Madridistas. As a result of this possible predicament, numerous managerial tacticians have been tipped for the post, from the likes of Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann to Antonio Conte.
Now, another name has been added to the watchlist of Perez and his cohorts at the Santiago Bernabéu – Roberto De Zerbi. A report from Sport says that the Los Blancos have already been in touch with De Zerbi to test the waters and gauge his interest in a summer move to the club.
De Zerbi is obviously viewed as a viable candidate due to his attractive, attacking brand of football, besides his ability to nurture young talents, of which Real are in an absolute abundance of in the Spanish capital.
It’s now all up to this other Italian himself to figure out if the move is right for him or not as this juncture in his managerial career.
