Leicester City have former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on their radar

Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is apparently on the radar of Leicester City, the Daily Mail reports.

The Foxes lost their relegation battle and ended up in the Championship at the end of an abject 2022-23 campaign and are now without a manager and are allegedly scrutinizing the former Red Devils boss.

The Norwegian – better known to earlier years United fans as the ‘Baby-Faced Assassin’ – is however not the only one Leicester are keenly monitoring as the likes of other notables like Dean Smith, Scott Parker and Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca also on their radar.

Manchester United finally decided it was better to part ways with Solskjaer in November 2021 after a dismal start to the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

The Red Devils hero had been serendipitously appointed by his old club in December 2018 on an interim basis, having taken over from Jose Mourinho for the rest of the 2018-19 season and was given the job permanently in March 2019 after 14 wins in 19 games.

The ormer Molde boss subsequently signed a three-year contract to take over Man United permanently but could only lead them to a sixth-placed finish at the end of the season.

However, credit must be given to Solskjaer as he guided them to finish third in 2019-20 and second in 2020-21, leading the club to hand him a new deal.

The Man United legend has since then been out of job but could shortly be finding his way back to England if he is successful in being appointed to helm the Leicester team as it will doubtless be a huge challenge as the club are already about to face an immediate exodus of their stars with their new relegated status. The Foxes are in urgent need of a full squad rebuild and will be going all out to secure immediate promotion.

Solskjaer has the requisite experience managing in the Championship having had a brief tenure in charge of Cardiff City after they got relegated under him and he will certainly be fancying his chances of doing a good job at Leicester, although he is facing stiff competition from those with better CVs and management experience for the job.
