Apparently Harry Kane is only interested in a move to Old Trafford and is prepared to see out the remaining year of his contract if a deal cannot be agreed.
Speculation is still rife concerning Kane’s future at Tottenham after the club missed out on European football for next season following a dismal campaign that ended not only with Antonio Conte walking out even before the season ended while the side ended in eighth place in the Premier League.
England captain Kane has long been linked with a move to Manchester United as their top summer transfer target as manager Erik ten Hag is busy scouting for reinforcements to bolster his front line. Now, according to The Sun, Kane has apparently indicated his desire to complete a move to Old Trafford this summer as he pursues silverware and Champions League football.
The 29-year-old reportedly has no intention to move abroad despite the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and PSG showing keen interest as he is believed to be determined to overtake the Premier League goalscoring record of 260 held by Alan Shearer, with his final season brace against Leeds moving him 48 away from the haul.
As it stands, champions Man City and Liverpool are not in the market for a forward while Kane’s Spurs connections prevent a possible move to arch rivals Arsenal or Chelsea.
The forward is reportedly prepared to plant his feet at Tottenham for the final year of his contract should a deal not be agreed, before potentially leaving the club on a free next summer.
As expected, with Spurs’ immediate future and their next boss shrouded in uncertainty, the Red Devils are not expecting under-pressure Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to agree to sell easily despite Mail Sport reporting that United feel Tottenham’s price for Kane will be £100million.
Kane still managed to raise his performance levels to end the campaign with 30 Premier League goals despite the club’s struggles, becomingTottenham’s all-time record goal scorer this season. He made the disclosure earlier in the month that he would be holding talks with Levy, adding that ‘a lot needs to change’ at Tottenham before club can be successful again.
“There’s a big summer ahead and a lot that needs to change here to start being successful again,” Kane said.
“I think there’s a conversation [with the chairman] to be had anyway in terms of some of the values of the club.
“It will be a conversation, we’ve had many conversations before like that on how we can improve, and that will be the case again.”
