Speaking in an interview, as relayed by Eurosport, Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Kylian Mbappe has emphatically ruled out a transfer to the Spanish capital in the upcoming January window.
Having been with the Parisian club since 2017 when he joined from AS Monaco, Mbappe has since rapidly evolved to become one of the most devastating attackers in the game. However, the 23-year-old has been ceaselessly linked with an exit from the club since the summer transfer window upon entering the final year of his contract.
Mbappe had earlier on initiated a push to his owners in the hope of securing a move to Real Madrid in the summer, but somehow that did not materialise. However, the news is still buzzing as he continues to be linked with a free transfer switch to the Santiago Bernabeu when his contract with PSG runs out at the end of the season.
Already there are suggestions that Real Madrid would most likely push for a move for him midway through the season in January. But surprisingly the French international has openly dismissed any such notions, indicating that he will not be leaving PSG next month, avowing instead that he will finish the season at the Parc des Princes.
“I only have in mind to win at Real Madrid in February and March. No, in January I will not go to Real Madrid. I am going to finish the season with PSG, 100 per cent. I want to give everything to win a great title for the fans, I think I deserve it,” he said.
When asked whether he felt any regrets over trying to force an exit in the summer, the 2018 Fifa World Cup winner added: “I was honest. I gave a feeling, I gave what I have in my heart. I’m happy to stay… it’s my city too. I’m french … I want to win everything this season.
“I will give everything I have to win the Champions League, the League and the Cup, and to give all the pleasure to the fans, because they deserve it.” Mbappe told CNN in an interview. ”
“Paris is my city, I was born here and it is also where I grew up. Playing for PSG is an amazing feeling, as you have your family and friends alongside you. It’s something I always dreamed of. I just want to give my best and I will see what happens. All the respect I have for the people, for the club, my team-mates, and myself too, I have to give 100 per cent for the next six-and-a-half months.”
The France international also said he enjoyed working with Lionel Messi, who made a surprise move to PSG on a free transfer from Barcelona last summer.
“It’s a big pleasure for me to say to my kids, to my friends, I play with him [Messi],” he said.
“We have to enjoy seeing him in Paris … It’s an amazing moment in the history of the game.”
