Amid the hullabaloo and ruckus stirred up by Manchester City’s insistent pursuit of Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur themselves are now being linked with a refreshing move for youngster Jeremy Doku of Stade Rennais, according to Jeunes Footeux.
Tottenham are apparently interested in the winger, with Nuno said to be a big fan of the lad who’s shown great promise on the pitch, although news has also been circulating about the latter’s interest on bringing over Adama Traore from Wolves in recent days.
However it seems that Doku has now emerged as a more likely option on their radar as Doku and Traore actually possess similar qualities as they are both blessed with great pace and love taking players on.
Doku’s speed is so exciting that Kylian Mbappe apparently told France Football the 19-year-old was the “fastest player” he has ever seen. Which, coming directly from the mouth of the French World Cup winning lightning bolt himself, is quite a compliment to be taken seriously.
“Recently, I was speaking with my father about a player who impressed me because of his speed qualities, that is (Jérémy) Doku, at Rennes.
“In 5 years as a professional, I have never seen someone from a standing start demonstrate so much power.”
At the age of just 19, Doku is also considerably younger than Traore, which could appeal.
Although the winger, who is valued at £43 million, clearly does not have the same level of Premier League experience, he could be a hugely exciting addition to Tottenham’s line-up after displaying what an asset he could be at Euro 2020, when he gave Italy a tough time.
He also claimed eight assists and scored four goals last term in 44 appearances for Rennais, which was an excellent return for a young player who could be a massively attractive proposition to Spurs not only for this season but also for the years ahead.
