News has it that Barcelona have opened new contract talks with their talisman Lionel Messi – finally.
The Argentine wizard’s current contract end of June, yet despite his situation and constant speculation around his future, Messi has been adamant that he never considered entering pre-contract talks with any European rival. Messi has been free to negotiate pre-contract terms with any European club outside of Spain since January due to his Bosman status.
However, Sport alleges negotiations have now formally kicked off between the Blaugrana’s new management team and Messi’s entourage and that Joan Laporta and the player’s father Jorge have held various conversations in recent days.
The final offer, both financially and in relation to the Barca sports project, will be subject, however, to the result of the exhaustive audit that the club is currently undergoing.
The foundations of the agreement are being laid out in these initial rounds of negotiations between Laporta and Jorge Messi.
Details are yet to be tabled, but progress but news is going around about an alleged lifetime deal which would extend way beyond Messi’s playing days.
