Selangor has decided to part ways with B. Sathiananthan as the head coach with immediate effect.
The decision came after Selangor were humiliated 6-1 by JDT in Super League match at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Saturday.
In light of the defeat, Football Association of Selangor (FAS) gathered for an emergency meeting with the 61-year-old coach.
“After evaluating all aspects in regards to the team’s recent performance, the management of FAS has decided to terminate B. Satiananthan from his duties as First Team Head Coach with immediate effect,” the official statement said.
“FAS would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and thanks to B. Satiananthan for guiding the team.”
FAS, the vacant role will be filled in by the Technical Director, Michael Feichtenbeiner as interim head coach until the new head coach is announced.
Sathiananthan guided Selangor towards a 3rd place finish in the 2019 Unifi Super League competition and reaching the semi-final round of the 2019 Malaysia Cup.
Selangor currently sit 8th in the table with 10 points, trailing 12 points behind JDT.
