Lionel Messi ‘tells Ronald Koeman he has doubts over Barcelona stay’

Lionel Messi interrupted his holiday plans to fly back to meet the new Barcelona boss and has reportedly told Koeman on Thursday that he has serious doubts about remaining at Camp Nou this summer.

The Argentina international met the Dutchman in a face-to-face meeting to discuss his future amid suggestions that the attacker could seek a move away from the Catalan giants ahead of next season.

According to RAC1, Messi informed Barca’s new head coach that he was considering an exit and currently sees himself ‘more out than in’ at the club.

Barca’s humiliating 8-2 rout by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League allegedly had a massive impact on Messi, whose contract at Camp Nou is due to expire next summer, with both Manchester City and Inter Milan both recently been credited with an interest, and it is believed that the former could likely be the club to sign should he finally decide to leave the Nou Camp.

The 33-year-old scored 31 times and registered 26 assists in 44 appearances for Barca in 2019-20, but he only managed three goals in the Champions League.
