Cambodia head coach Leonardo Vitorino has responded to massive criticism after his side continued to disappoint on the international stage as they suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Vietnam in their 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
“I will never give up! Before I come to Cambodia I know that this was the results and the history at past. I was hired to do a long-term job,” said the Brazilian to the Khmer Times on Thursday.
“I believe in the future of Cambodia football. And I will do what is right always so that the results will come in the future. If you do not believe me, I believe in the future of football in this country.
“Whoever believes come, walk with me and watch the League closely, the training and the games. I work for Cambodia and I will not give up improving the future of football in this country that has welcomed me so well!
“In order to achieve a great achievement, we must go through the difficult paths of life, and walking together everything be easier.”
Cambodia have struggled in group C after delivering a shocking win against Afghanistan in July. The Koupreys have maintained their third place position in the group ahead of Afghanistan.
