Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has predicted Australia to finish second in Group C and qualify for the 2018 World Cup Round of 16.
Speaking to RT Television Channel, Mourinho predicted all qualifiers group by group, and he was confident Bert van Marwijk’s side was capable of getting out of the group stage.
France was undeniably Mourinho’s pick to top Group C. However, second place would come down to a “big fight” between Australia, Denmark, and Peru.
“I think France, no problems, will finish first,” Mourinho said.
“Big fight to finish second. I’ll go for a surprise. Come on Australia, let’s finish second!”
If the Socceroos finish second, they would go on to face Argentina in the knockout stage.
