Late Winner Continues Jeonbuk’s Perfect Start

Jeonbuk Hyundai once again benefitted from a late winner to continue their streak at the start of the K-League season.

Having benefitted from a strike by Lee Dong-Gook against Suwon Bluewings on Matchday 1, the defending Champions once again needed a late effort to break the deadlock in their second game against Busan I’Park.

The visitors took the lead after 16 minutes thanks to defender Hong Jeong-ho, but their lead was cut by Romulo’s 66th-minute penalty.

Thankfully for Jeonbuk, South African striker Lars Veldwijk managed to find the net in the second minute of stoppage time. The towering forward got on the end of Han Kyo-won’s knock-down and managed to fire the shot in at the back post for his first goal in Jeonbuk colors.

Elsewhere, Sangju Sangmu picked up their first win of the season by beating Gangwon 2-0, while Daegu and Pohang Steelers played out a 1-1 draw.
