Guangzhou Evergrande owners wow to undergo a team reshuffle following the team’s 2-0 defeat away to newly-promoted Beijing Renhe in the Chinese Super League on Sunday.
It was Evergrande’s sixth winless match in all competitions including domestic league, Chinese FA Cup and AFC Champions League.
The defeat at Beijing stumbled the CSL defending champions to the fifth position in the league and club owner Xu Jiayin immediately signaled that his patience had run out, as reported by local media.
According to Xinhua News, Xu has demanded a profound replacement of foreign players and allowing sales of any domestic players over 23 years old.
However, the future of head coach Fabio Cannavaro has not been mentioned. The 44-year-old revealed he had not been told of the drastic transfer plans announced by Xu.
“But if the chairman decides to do it, we will definitely do it,” Guangzhou Daily quoted Cannavaro as saying after the Beijing defeat, as reported by AFP.
“I thought it was going to be difficult at the beginning of the season, but I didn’t think it would be this hard.”
