Vietnam U-16 finished second in the 2018 Japan-ASEAN friendly tournament in Miyazaki, Japan.
The Young Golden Stars lost 1-0 to Indonesia U-16 in the final match, which took place on Monday morning.
With four changes in the line-up, Vietnam found it difficult to approach the goal of the opponents.
The clearest opportunity for coach Dinh The Nam’s side was the chance at the 16 minute from Dau Ngoc Thanh but the substitute missed it.
Four minutes later, Indonesia were given a penalty and they took advantage of this chance to break the deadlock.
In the remaining time, both Vietnam and Indonesia could not convert any opportunity into goals, and the game ended with a 1-0 win for Indonesia.
In the third-place match, Japan defeated Thailand 5-3 to take the bronze medal.
