Chainat Hornbill FC won 2017 Thai League 2 Championship title despite the 4-2 defeat to Kasetsart on Saturday.
However, Chainat Hornbill have reached an agreement with the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) to postpone the championship until 5 November, with the aim to avoid the country’s funeral ceremony to late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, as reported by TrueID.
Chainat Hornbill will join Airforce Central and Prachuab, who secured their promotions a couple of weeks ago, in Thai League 1 next year.
Chainat, now coached by Dennis Amato, was established in 2009. Following the rapid development since the first season, the club was promoted to the top league Thai League 1 in 2012.
Last year, Chainat were relegated from top-flight league due to the cancellation of Cup finals after the death of revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej. At that time, they still had a fighting chance of league survival with three rounds to go.
