Former European Cup winner Ljupko Petrovic “not thinking” about Vietnam national team job

Former Red Star Belgrade and Espanyol manager Ljupko Petrovic has denied the speculation that he would take the coaching position for Vietnam national team.

The former European Cup winner, who is currently managing Vietnamese V.League 1 club FLC Thanh Hoa, is considered as one of the potential candidates for Vietnam’s head coach role following Nguyen Huu Thang’s resignation.

“Coaching Vietnam national team has not been in my mind. Now I am focusing on the important target with Thanh Hoa FLC in the future, so I have no answer about taking that “hot seat”,” Petrovic told Lao Dong Newspaper.

A few days ago, the 70-year-old had said it would be “a great honor” to coach Vietnam national team.

However, he may reconsider his mind after taking account the enormous pressure of coaching the Golden Star.
