Former Red Star Belgrade manager Ljupko Petrovic: Coaching Vietnam national team “would be a great honor”

Former Red Star Belgrade and Espanyol manager Ljupko Petrovic said it would be “a great honor” to coach Vietnam national team.

The former European Cup winner, who is currently managing Vietnamese V.League 1 club FLC Thanh Hoa, is considered as one of the potential candidates for Vietnam’s head coach role following Nguyen Huu Thang’s resignation.

“It would be a great honor for me, but I don’t want to talk about it at the moment. For now, I’m doing my job with FLC Thanh Hoa and I want to finish my work here before thinking about other available options. I want to win trophies here,” Petrovic told reporters after being asked about the possibility of coaching Vietnam national team.

“If I had a chance, I would like to help Vietnam develop football further. But not at the moment, of course”.
