South Korean whizkid Lee Seung-woo leaves Barcelona for Hellas Verona

Hellas Verona have completed a deal for Barcelona teenager Lee Seung-woo for €1.5m on the deadline day of this European summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old left-winger has signed a four-year deal with the Italian Serie A side although Barcelona have confirmed they have a buy-back option that covers the first two seasons.

“FC Barcelona and Hellas Verona FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Seung-Woo Lee to the Italian club,” read an official statement from the Spanish club.

The South Korean wonderkid joined Barcelona in 2011 and drew comparison to Lionel Messi in his early career in Catalan.

Last season, Lee made the step up from the youth academy to play for the B team in Spain’s Segunda Division and had attracted interest from various clubs around Europe.
