Vietnamese midfielder Luong Xuan Truong allowed to participate in upcoming SEA Games

Gangwon have allowed Luong Xuan Truong to play for Vietnam national team in SEA Games, which will take place in Malaysia in August.

This statement was confirmed in a meeting on 9 June between a Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) official and Gangwon’s director Tommy Cho, according to Zing.vn.

Since SEA Games are not listed on FIFA’s calendar, the clubs holding the registration of players called up to play are not obliged to release their players.

However, VFF advised that the K.League club allow Truong to participate in U-23 Vietnam national football training session from the end of July to 30 August.

Luong Xuan Truong has been on loan to Gangwon from Incheon United earlier this year. Having spent 2 years in South Korea, the 22-year-old midfielder seems not to prove much and has not been given many opportunities to play in the South Korean top-flight league.
