Muangthong United goalkeeper appointed as Thailand captain

Coach Milovan Rajevac has appointed Muangthong United goalkeeper Kawin Thamsatchanan as the new captain of Thailand national team for the World Cup qualifier against the United Arab Emirates on 13 June.

The captain’s armband had been given to veteran Suphanburi goalkeeper Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool, who skipped their 2-0 loss to Uzbekistan in a friendly in Tashkent last week.

Expressing his attitude to Rajevac’s decision, Kawin said: “To be the captain of the national team, to me, is the highest honour and I am proud that I have been trusted for this high-profile job.

I will try my best to live up to everyone’s expectations,” as quoted by Bangkok Post.

According to FA Thailand, on Monday morning, head coach Rajevac has officially revealed his 23-man squad for the UAE qualifier, with Chiang Rai United’s Suriya Singmui missed out of the team.

Currently, the War Elephants are gathering at Kiarti Thanee Country Club for the training sessions, preparing for the game against UAE at Rajamangala National Stadium.
