Buriram United coach to serve 3-month ban after appeal rejected

After Buriram FC lodged an appeal, the Appeals Committee of The Football Association of Thailand (FA) preserved the 3-month ban for the club’s head coach Ranko Popovic after his violent conduct in a Thai League T1 match against Bangkok United on 3 June.

Popovic slapped the face of Bangkok United physio Andy Schillinger following a recent Thai League 1 match at I-Mobile Stadium.

The incident took place in the tunnel and was witnessed by fourth official Nitipoom Kullabut.

Popovic, whose team won the match 2-1, also faces a fine of 40,000 baht.

Following the ban, Popovic will miss nine Thai League 1 matches, including one against rivals Muangthong United on July 9 which could potientially decide the title.
