Frank Lampard still a ‘serious’ Everton option and is set for fresh talks today

It had seemed at one stage that Chelsea icon Frank Lampard was about to miss out on yet another Premier League job, but a sudden new turn of events has seen the former Chelsea boss being set for fresh talks with the Everton board, who now regard him as a serious option.

Still without a manager after Rafael Benitez was sacked by the club, Everton are going through a really wretched patch on the pitch with a deplorable run of form, despite having gotten off to a great start off the blocks under the former Liverpool boss. Unfortunately results turned soon enough, as did the fans when Benitez was only able to manage just one Premier League win in 14 matches.

After the unavoidable sacking, it had appeared that Everton were set on the appointment of Portuguese manager Vitor Pereira who had suddenly re-emerged as owner Farhad Moshiri’s preferred candidate for the job.

However, in yet another fresh twist to the saucy saga, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is now back in the limelight and is all set for new talks with the Merseyside club and is being considered a ‘serious’ option.

Things seemed to be moving swiftly in favor of Pereira with the Everton board but graffiti was spotted at Goodison Park urging the club to abandon all plans of appointing the Portuguese boss.

According to the Telegraph, Lampard will proceed with talks with the Everton board on Thursday and this will come as good news to the fans, particularly those who spray-painted ‘Pereira Out, Lampard In’ on their own stadium as a stern warning to the owners not to ignore the sentiments of the fans.

Lampard has been without a job since last January, when he was dismissed by Chelsea and replaced by Thomas Tuchel, and the former Blues boss has been unsuccessful when linked with four other Premier League clubs so far.

Lampard has been a regular trooper keeping firm to his word that he is in no rush, and is waiting for the ideal job, but with Everton’s current situation, it’s going to be a tough challenge whoever is eventually appointed by the board.

Although his confidence may have been knocked following multiple unsuccessful attempts to get back in the dugout, this seems to be an ideal opportunity for Lampard to prove his worth.
