With Newcastle United’s form clearly struggling as of late and with pressure piling on Eddie Howe after last year’s success, questions have now invariably been asked about whether it’s time for Newcastle to replace him with a big name manager.
However, a new report from The Athletic claims that Howe still enjoys a very positive relationship with co-owner Amanda Staveley, who very recently even went so far as to describd him as ‘exceptional’.
It has emerged in the last few days that Newcastle are still not looking to replace Howe ahead of the summer despite having missed out on Champions League qualifications, which they are currently on track to do.
Injuries and suspensions have made it immensely difficult for Howe’s men to get into a rhythm, hence adversely impacting both their form and performances lately, causing them to be inconsistent.
However co-owner Staveley seems to be appreciative of all of the factors brought into play this season that have impacted the results on the pitch and are willing to give Howe more time to put things right in the next campaign.
That being said, things move quickly in football and Newcastle would not want to be lingering around mid table in the Premier League for too long, despite Howe now still having the complete backing of the board.
46-year-old Howe will be hoping that there are sufficient funds to spend in the summer to invest in improving the quality of depth in the squad which has been exposed this season with a number of first-team options missing.
