Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola ‘crazy’ over Willy Gnonto with impending Leeds United exit

It’s not often that one hears of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola going nuts over any player – with the exception of Lionel Messi, of course – but the serial award-winning manager is reportedly “crazy” over Leeds United attacker Willy Gnonto, who could be on his way out of Elland Road.

According to Tutto Mercato Web (29 May), the Italy international could be on his way out of Leeds after their relegation but then again his remaining in the Championship is also likely.

Among the predators circling above the 19-year-old, after his debut season in the Premier League for the Whites, are Juventus.

The premonition is clear that Leeds are going to face a battle in order to retain the services of Gnonto as big clubs will be pounding on the doors looking to sign him in the coming weeks.

Without any doubts, Guardiola is arguably the best manager in the world and the opportunity to work with him is indeed a rare, privileged one that does not come too often in the careers of players, even seasoned ones.

If the Catalan takes it upon himself to touch base with the player, there’s a very good chance that the 19-year-old would be readily convinced to leave the club.

There is at present nothing fixed at the club as they are possibly awaiting a new owner, manager and sporting director for next season so there’s no clarity, as things stand.

It is still uncertain what the next few weeks hold for the Whites because of the likelihood of players leaving for greener pastures as the Championship is certainly not a league players want to play in, especially if they’re regular picks for their national team and have been accustomed to playing top-flight football.
